The “Charchin Villa,” unlike the layout of centralized plans, is based on an entirely open plan. The project consists of four independent volumes, which are connected to each other by a suspended corridor. This corridor moves around a central courtyard, and the movement throughout the entire plan happens fluidly.
The arrangement of the volumes and the way movement flows between them has been designed to create a user experience that fosters curiosity, exploration, and continuity.
Considering the humid climate of northern Iran, two main strategies have been adopted to enhance the project’s bioclimatic quality: First, by spacing and separating the volumes from each other and creating an open plan, the possibility of natural air currents interacting with more surfaces of the building was facilitated. Second, the central courtyard, due to the suspended corridor surrounding it, functions as a thermal chimney; by generating airflow within itself, natural ventilation is enabled, ensuring that the plan remains in dynamic ventilation from within.
In terms of material selection, the use of local materials was prioritized. The form of the four-sided pitched roofs, which align with the geometric movement of the volumes, has been consistently extended across the entire project, giving the whole ensemble a cohesive identity.
