It is common in the northern regions to see houses with sloped roofs and a centralized plan on the site, where the interior spaces are grouped together. These houses often feature porches around the plan, and are built with spacing between them, slightly elevated from the ground. The region’s climatic conditions, including heavy rainfall and high humidity, have greatly influenced the development of these characteristics.
The site of the Ayaz Villa project is located in an area near the foothills, with a view of the mountains to the south and southwest and the sea to the north, with an east-west site orientation. In the early design stages, we considered shifting from a centralized plan to a scattered arrangement of volumes and spaces, creating separation between private and public spaces with a central courtyard. This approach also allowed for better airflow circulation between the volumes, enhancing the movement of users through the interior spaces.
Additionally, most sections of the house are elevated from the ground, allowing air circulation underneath, which helps improve performance against the region’s high humidity.
