The HYRCANI RESIDENCE is a nature-centered project that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings using locally sourced materials. Situated in the elevated lands of Balaband, Ramsar, the project takes inspiration from the topographic contours of the area and the tea plantations that define the region.
Throughout the design process, our primary goal was to respect the environment and minimize any impact on the surrounding tea gardens and tea bushes within the site. Field studies and research have shown that the region has preserved its traditional rural character, where materials such as adobe and wooden beams were widely used in the past. Additionally, numerous small-scale houses featuring traditional vestibules (Hashti) can be found throughout the area.
To strengthen the connection between the lodge and the village, we chose to incorporate the region’s architectural elements and materials. Moreover, by following the site’s natural lines and topography, we developed organic and fluid forms across the entire project.
